Sabens - John

U.S. Veteran John Sabens, 63, Crawfordsville, passed away at 10:32 PM Friday in Home Hospital, Lafayette. Mr. Sabens was born January 3, 1944 in Crawfordsville to Mitchell and Martha Sabens. He married Sarah Dale Sabens on June 14, 1986. She survives. John was a 1962 graduate of Ladoga High School. He then served four years in the U. S. Air Force. Afterwards, John earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree from Ball State University. For the past twenty-five years he has owned and operated John Sabens Construction, Inc. Two of John's three sons have worked with their father for over twenty years in the construction business, building many homes in Montgomery and surrounding counties. In addition to his wife, Mr. Sabens is survived by three sons, Ron (Cheryl) Sabens, Jon J (Chelly) Sabens and Chris Sabens, as well as a daughter, Emily Sabens. He is also survived by three brothers, Fred Sabens, Atlanta, Georgia, Mike Sabens and Donald Frank Sabens, both of Crawfordsville. He also has 6 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Sabens has been cremated. There will be a visitation Tuesday from 4-8 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. His family will have a private memorial service on Wednesday. His family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Lincoln Bank for a fund to benefit Emily Sabens, 134 South Washington St., Crawfordsville.
